A Story of Architectural Salvage Stewardship
Once Upon a time, a Determined One was hunting for a true homestead. She found the perfect old house. It had been burned in a fire and it was an elegant mess - just perfect!
She gathered it up safely and banished the nasty 'Bulldozer Monster'. Now, the town crier from the Land of Magazines proclaimed that “Houses that are Too Small” might still be endangered by the Monster in the future, if their Smallness is decreed to be “not serving the needs of modern families properly”. So she searched and found another old building from among many old log cabins, in the far away Land of Lancaster.
This old log cabin was also doomed with the crime of Smallness and further doomed from being located in the wrong darned place! With the help of the magic of 4
enchanted Polaroids, a heap of beams in the bottom of a barn leaped themselves into the perfect 1740s addition.
She joined the rescued buildings with a mighty stone hyphen and cobbled together a “New to Look Old” 1830s addition with architectural salvage gathered carefully from many years and many lands. Now the homestead could support a family as well as a multitude of friends and the evil endangerment spell was banished forever. Some folks called it The End. Some called it The Beginning
The Moral of the Story? For a happy ending, get in touch as early as possible in the thinking stages of your project! Architectural Salvage Network

About Our Founder: Jona Harvey
Jona Harvey has been running Architectural Salvage Network for many years. She got immersed in the salvage world by locating buildings and salvage for her own projects. She began to see how she could help and support folks who are trying to do the same thing.
Jona began to form working relationships with architects, designers, builders and craftsmen and the people who run salvage yards of all descriptions. These are the people who extend themselves in order to salvage, house, market and ultimately re-vitalize our Architectural Heritage pieces. These are great folks to be around and great values to share.
She finds the salvage world to be a wonderfully collaborative atmosphere in which to work, with all artists and stakeholders pulling together in the same direction, for the sake of the project, ultimately passionate about saving and re-using the pieces of art that are endangered!
Jona became quite accustomed to working in a collaborative atmosphere through many, many years spent in the world of Professional Theatre, TV and Film. It’s pretty much the same thing there too; a very large group of artists working harmoniously toward the achievement of a shared goal. It’s exciting to work together toward the fulfillment of an aesthetic vision, especially with the added higher purpose of launching important pieces of our architectural heritage into their new future!
